I am a terrible person with my inability to say things.
Anyway,
Library school is still badass. I'm currently in the midst of writing a paper on some books I had to read for class which is why I kind of got eaten by life.
I went to the library today and did some work on research for my paper and I am sitting down to write my 500 words for today and of course, this is me procrastinating. I excel at that. It's crazy reading all of these articles and books about information and all of the preservation problems that libraries and even regular joes like myself have to face. I had this moment in class the other day when we were discussing how we back up our files and I remember thinking "Oh shit, my poetry notebooks! How the shit am I going to back them up? I don't want them to turn into dust." Which books do. I work in the preservation department at the Archives Service Center and I had to photocopy the barcodes and call numbers of some of the books and they literally break off in pieces when you try to put them in the copier.
I have this horrible image of my poetry notebooks meeting the same fate. They have some really cool collages I've made besides the poetry, which no matter how bad it is, (and trust me folks, it is bad. LOLtastic, I promise.) I really want to preserve it because it means something to me. I know that I could type up all of the poems and save the content but everything eventually computer files included, stop working. (I need to invest in some badass color copies, maybe like 6 and then save it on three CD's and three Flash drives, and on Carl (my laptop) and on my external harddrive.) I AM SUCH A LIBRARIAN. HOLY CRAP.
Anyway, enough of that. I need to get working on my paper. I hope this Saturday night finds you all well and doing something way more exciting than working on a paper or reading this blog.

You need a scanner. Digital backups, what ho.
I've found the greatest thing ever. You need to use it. It would make a great digital poetry notebook.
